How to learn Japanese language quickly

6. Go to countryside in Japan

Staying in the countryside in Japan where almost no one speaks English works for learning language. You will have to survive with speaking only Japanese.

When I just moved to Zambia, I could only introduce myself in English. No one understood Japanese there (even almost all cities where I have traveled overseas too). Therefore, I had to learn both of local language and English.

The first phrase I learned was “Ni huna manzi” meaning “I want water”. Even when I didn’t know proper words and grammar I just copied locals like all babies do. What you do is just to forget your mother tongue and simply accept new language as it is. No need to translate it into other languages.

Locals in countryside may speak dialect with a strong accent and weird expressions though, you will be forced to speak Japanese. This could work too.

7. Find a partner

As No.4 explains that Tinder works for finding a language partner in Japan though, you may end up dating with him/her if it goes well.

Just one advice is that you shouldn’t choose English speakers, otherwise you guys will count on English.

The more you like him/her the more you will have to practice Japanese language to express yourself to your partner. This is a good way of forcing yourself.

Let me give you some tips to get along with Japanese men and women.

Japanese men have less guts to ask girls out. When it comes to first date with foreign girls who are not good at Japanese language, believe me, it takes ages.

On the other hand, Gaijin Hunters who love to flirt with as many foreigners as they want bring very sweet words shamelessly.

It’s up to you whether you choose shy boys or hunters. Read the following article if you like to know more about Japanese men.

Japanese women are also shy but once they care about you they really do. It takes more time to reach the first date with them than you may think since they are more protective and considering the marriage even before dating. This often scares foreign men as far as I heard. Read the following article if you like to know more about Japanese women.

Special Bonus

Language can be a huge investment for yourself.

Being able to communicate with people in their mother tongues makes you more open minded, thoughtful and capable of dealing with something which other people can’t.

If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.  by Nelson Mandela

For example, my friend became an ambassador regardless of his Arabic skill being intermediate since there are only few Japanese can speak Arabic.

Another example is that when I asked the price of drinks to Tanzanian bender in English it was triple price than average. But once I asked it in Swahili the price became less than average.

The last example is that if you are fluent in Japanese, you can easily find a job in Japan. Most Japanese companies are afraid of hiring foreigners due to the language barrier.
