Cliche 10: All Japanese can write with brush

While Japanese primary school students practice Japanese calligraphy at school, in daily life almost nobody write with brush. They only do it in special occasions.

It’s part of arts like painting or drawing which means not everybody is good at it.

Plus, it’s made for right handed people only. All left handed people have trouble with writing with it.

Japanese calligraphy as well as Chinese and Korean is worldly famous.

Foreigners are more and more numerous to be interested in learning Brush painting calligraphy and classes are provided to those who are willing to learn. 

 

Cliche 11: Japanese always wear cameras around their neck

True…Overseas.

This is something that Japanese have no conscience of, but many foreigners, especially in Europe, keep saying that they can only recognize Japanese among other Asians by looking at the camera that Japanese carry around everywhere they go.

Thanks to Japanese companies such as Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Sonny and Panasonic, there are many reasonable lineups.

The domestic comparison site named kakaku.com enables you to compare all those products at the same time and helps you to find the cheapest one.  

And “false” if it’s in Japan.

Japanese people don’t take cameras with them in Japan, instead they use Instagram. It’s more handy and easily able to Photoshop.

 

Cliche 12: Japanese hold tea ceremonies everywhere

False.

It’s rare to join tea ceremonies for ordinary people unless they belong to some communities.

There are lots of ceremonies and festivals in Japan. The most famous for foreigners being maybe the traditional tea ceremony though, the weirdest festival is probably Kanamara festival.

It wishes for success of business, safe delivery, good relationships. I hope you attend it one day.
