Many Japanese belong to Buddhism or have no religion, though, they celebrate Xmas with their partner without knowing the meaning of Xmas. It has been a kind of excuse to have fun for couples.

They expect to go to decent restaurant, eat KFC and cakes at home, see winter illuminations, visit somewhere, bit far places or amusement parks such as Disneyland, Disneysea and Universal Studio Japan.

9. Greeting parents matters

When Japanese women introduce you to their parents, it means that they are thinking about marriage with you. And parents know about it.

Many Japanese women respect what their parents think about you. It’s a feeling based on the way you speak, behave and think. That’s not because Japanese women are not independent. That’s because Japanese women know their future husbands should get along with their parents well.

Some of them don’t really care about what parents think though. And they get pregnant first as an excuse to get married. This makes parents unhappy but they end up accepting the marriage.

10. Ask permission for the marriage

It can sound very old fashion for Westerners, however, it’s very important to Japanese women and their fathers (actually all around Asia in general).

It’s a tradition that the fiancé goes to meet the fiancée’s father (girlfriend’s father) and formally ask the permission to get married.  

Even if you are not fluent in Japanese, you must practice this phrase “NAME san wo kudasai” If your girlfriend’s name is Aya, you say “Aya san wo kudasai”. It means “Please give me Ms. Aya”.
